GMO…OMG!!! Turmeric or Curcumin?!? What’s All The Fuss?!?

Oney of the most common concerns and questions people have today is What can one do to heal from the effects of eating GMOs?

As many of you already know, I am an avid health, wellness, and fitness advocate, and as a result, my family and I practice what I preach daily.
Why am I so passionate about it?!?
Well, because I have lived in the medical environment all my life, simply because everyone in my family is a physician. However, the truth be known, most classically trained physicians know nothing about nutrition or wellness, since their medical training only involves the study of illness – diagnosing symptoms, and treating them with a pill for every ill.
As a trained attorney, I soon recognized the dichotomy of this harsh reality and I became committed, along with my MD husband, to dedicate ourselves to finding holistic alternatives to the most prevalent chronic conditions which afflict our modern society due to the Western lifestyle.

Since our holistic journey began years ago, we were able to identify one of the leading and most prevalent causes of many debilitating conditions which are common to our society: obesity, degenerative orthopedic conditions, vision loss, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, autoimmune conditions, endocrine disorders, Alzheimer’s, and of course, cancer.

The real truth about the state of our illness indicates that by 2030, 50% of the American population will be afflicted with diabetes and cancer, not to mention Autism, ADHD, Alzheimer’s and other modern day labels.

Why in this technologically advanced world, are we getting sicker than ever before?!? Why is the number one cause of death among children today – cancer?!??
Why are we dying instead of thriving?!?

The bitter truth is not as complex as seems. In fact, the answer is right in front of our eyes, which have been wide shut for the sake of satisfying our self indulgent senses!

Once again, it all lies in the old proverb” You are what you eat”.

This statement could not have been more on point and truer than ever before! Years ago all food was simply …organic whole foods. There were no man made “food like products”, laden with chemicals, preservatives, heavy metals, antibiotics, hormones and carcinogens, which kill our immune system and disrupt our very essential but delicate endocrine balance.
GMO was not widely introduced into our food supply until 1996.  All related and independent scientific studies conducted on the dangers of GMO have been purposefully covered up, and the brilliant and coragous scientists behind these studies have  been the subject of relentless and vicious smear campaigns design to discredit both their findings and reputations

Why is organic food so important? Why are GMO’s so bad for us?!?
Because the toxic soup we live in, and the GMO food we are eating, is reeking massive havoc on our bodies by suppressing our immune system and making it unable to do the work it is designed to do, such as repairing and protecting our bodies from the invasion of toxins, bacteria, viruses, and abnormal cells. Our hormonal system is overloaded and is barely functional, we are loaded with toxins, have leaky gut syndrome, we are chronically fatigued, unable to sleep, battling chronic inflammation and excess weight.

Since I have learned this bitter truth, I have become an avid wellness advocate, and I am committed to sharing my knowledge with others in order to enhance their state of health and well-being.

Throughout this life changing journey, I have been privileged to help many of my clients to lose their excess weight and keep it off, lower their dangerously high cholesterol levels by as much as 100 points, manage chronic pain associated with debilitating musculo-skeletal conditions, lower their blood pressure, and rehabilitate their immune system which in turn cured them from many ailments, including cancer.

Every meal is created from scratch, and is a unique celebration of life and different cultures, made with organic whole food ingredients, selected carefully to enhance our state of health.

In truth, the only regret I have today, is not knowing this beautiful truth sooner.
This incredible journey has enriched our lives beyond my wildest imagination. We’ve learned the true meaning of conscious and mindful living, and the beauty in all living beings. We will never again contribute to the horrors and atrocities committed daily against innocent animals. We elect to live in harmony with nature and as a result, we are reaping the magnitude of benefits Mother Earth has to offer.

Becoming a vegan requires a fundamental commitment to yourself and our planet.
Thus, my advice to anyone who is interested in this lifestyle, is to take baby steps in order to make it sustainable.
Learn, discover, and experiment. There are plenty of vegan resources and websites which will provide you with easy tips and delicious recipes. Food and cooking has never been this exciting, and my kitchen has become my laboratory were a create delicious natural medicine …made of …whole foods!

In fact, last Thanksgiving was the first time ever that I did not cook the holiday meal in our home, but instead we agreed to join a Thanks Vegan community celebration. This was one of the most unique and delicious experiences we’ve ever had. With over 200 vegan dishes to sample, this feast was certainly an affair to remember and a true delight to any discriminating palate.

Today, I’d like yo share another mega power, low glycemic index, protein loaded, heart healthy, winter breakfast recipe I’ve invented in my world kitchen-lab.

Golden Milk

Golden milk had been used for thousands of years in many cultures for its potent anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-depressant properties to treat and prevent the common cold, flues, chronic inflammation, joint pain, and many other chronic conditions.

Turmeric – a natural orange colored root, commonly used in Indian and Thai dishes, has showed to be the most potent anti-inflammatory available on our planet..,far more potent than any over the counter man made pills.

To make your Golden Milk, start with your favorite plant based milk. Our favorite is Flax milk – an excellent source of Omega 3.
Heat up the milk, on the stove, and add a teaspoon of organic: ground turmeric, ginger, coconut oil, and cinnamon. Add a dash of black and cayenne pepper, bring to a boil, stir it up, simmer for 10 minutes, and enjoy!
You may also add a teaspoon of instant organic coffee, and you have a healthy zesty potent brew to boost up your immune system using these nutrient dense spices. This miracle drink is naturally sweet and does not require any sweeteners. However, if desired, you can always add a bit of raw local honey to this mix.
Turmeric has a cumulative affect, so make sure to drink it daily and you should start feeling the results in about two weeks.

Best Ever Protein Loaded Gluten Free Pear Oats

Yes, you read it correctly! This is one of our favorite winter morning recipes! The flavor and the texture of this dish, is the best I’ve ever had! Truly!!!

Ingredients:

2 large and ripe organic pear
1.5 cup of filtered water
1.5 Cups of organic gluten free steel cut oats
1 Tspoon of sliced Almonds
1 Tspoon of Wulnuts
1 Tspoon of pumpkin seeds
1 Tspoon of Chia seeds
1 Tspoon of Raisins
A dash of pink Himalayan salt
A dash of ground Cinnamon
Raw Honey – optional
Cut up the pear into small cubes, place in a small pot with water and bring it to a boil. After 5 minutes, mash up the pair with a fork, and add the rest of the ingredients. Stir it up, and cook it on low heat for an additional 5 -10 minutes.
Remove from the heat, sprinkle with some additional sliced almonds, serve, and enjoy!

This oatmeal dish is naturally sweet from the ripened pear and does not require any additional sweeteners.

Natural, unprocessed, steel cut gluten free oats, nuts and seeds are loaded with fiber and protein, and this delicious power breakfast will sustain you for hours!
